An Impossible Choice
The Good Samaritan Fund makes it possible for Don and Mary to share a holiday meal.
The Casey's have lived a life of service in the Walla Walla Valley - dedicated volunteers with Don logging over 13,000 volunteer hours for one agency alone.
Don and Mary were both diagnosed with respiratory illness during a harsh winter in the Walla Walla Valley. They visited the Providence St. Mary Urgent Care clinic and were prescribed antibiotics. With the holidays near, Don and Mary had to make a choice: celebrate Thanksgiving together or purchase the medication they needed. For Don and Mary and for many of our neighbors, it's a choice between food or medicine.
Don and Mary chose to share a meal together. This left $2 to see them through the month. They live on a fixed income and one illness can be financially devastating. Just in time, the Good Samaritan fund came through with the $75 co-pay. Don and Mary enjoyed their holiday meal and received the medicine they desperately needed.
