Each resident has an extraordinary story. Naomi Richardson’s began at The Mount many years ago, as a young woman in her 20’s. A caregiver at The Mount helped Naomi enter nursing school and after graduating, she stayed on to work. Years later, when her husband Curtis needed care, he moved into The Mount and she soon followed. Naomi spent her life caring for others, including her husband in his final years. When Curtis passed away in 2017, Naomi quickly found new outlets for her caring energy.
Before the pandemic, Naomi would spend her days volunteering in the Intergenerational Learning Center (ILC), going on field trips and participating in the intergenerational art classes. Since these activities are now on hold, Naomi stays busy knitting scarves, watching videos of her ILC friends and making video calls with loved ones. Your continued generosity has made activities like these possible for residents like Naomi through purchases of tablets for video visits, GoPro cameras for the ILC, installation of a dedicated in-house TV channel, and special activities to help keep life engaging and meaningful.
