Dr. Bill Bekemeyer in white shirt and tieThis endowed scholarship is established in honor of Dr. William “Bill” Bekemeyer and his significant lifelong contributions to healthcare. The scholarship will provide lasting educational funding for Providence Montana caregivers pursuing education or an advanced degree or certificate in health care, with preference given to nursing, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy. In Bill’s own words, “I can only hope that this fund encourages more physician and caregiver involvement in philanthropy and see this as an opportunity to invest in the future of health care in Montana. I am deeply touched by the establishment of this scholarship fund.”

About Dr. William “Bill” Bekemeyer


Dr. Bekemeyer has served his community for more than 30 years as an internal medicine, critical and pulmonary medicine physician, including more than 20 years of leadership positions at St. Patrick Hospital and the Providence Montana health system, Providence Washington Montana Regional Community Mission Board, Providence Montana Health Foundation Board and Campaign Steering Committee. He is credited for helping Providence Montana attain some of the state’s highest scores for clinical quality and patient experience, including Magnet hospital designation, 5-star quality ratings from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, “A” grades for safety from The Leapfrog Group, and US News and World Report’s top hospital in Montana. In 2021, he received the Trustee of the Year award from the Montana Hospital Association. Dr. Bekemeyer has made significant philanthropic contributions in support of continued excellence throughout Providence Montana. His advocacy surrounding the importance of philanthropy, especially from physicians and health care leaders, has positively shifted the culture of giving, furthering the ultimate impact on Providence Montana and outstanding care to patients.
