Planned Giving

By making a planned gift to the Providence Hospice Foundation Sonoma County, you will help ensure compassionate care is available for future generations.

If you have already included us in your plans (or you intend to), please let us know. We would like to make sure your wishes are understood and that your gift will be used exactly as you intend. We would also be happy to provide you and your advisors with sample bequest language, if desired. Also, we look forward to inviting you to join our Legacy Society in recognition of your planned gift and commitment to our work.

Donor Advised Funds

Smiling grandparents, parents and toddler.

Donor advised funds allow you to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants from the fund over time. You can contribute to the fund as frequently as you like, and then recommend grants to your favorite charity such as Providence Hospice Sonoma County at a time that makes sense for you. Consult with your financial advisor about the best choice for your unique circumstance.

If you have already created a fund with Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable or BNY Mellon, you can easily designate a contribution from your Donor Advised Fund at DAF Direct.

Matching Gifts

Companies of all sizes match donations their employees make to nonprofits because it’s an easy, structured way for them to support good work in their communities. Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions or volunteer hours made by their employees. This means your gift will go twice, or even sometimes three times as far! Some employers also make it easy to give to charity through payroll deductions through United Way or other Workplace Giving Campaign.

Please check with your employer (typically the HR or payroll department) to see if your company has a matching gift and/or payroll deduction program. If you notice we’re not among the options, please ask your human resources department to include us in the future!

Stocks & Bonds

Senior Couple with Advisor

Donating stock is a smart way to give. and a great way to make an impact.

Gifts of appreciated stock and securities offer many tax benefits. Be sure to check with your financial advisor, but donors often can avoid federal capital gains tax and also claim an income tax deduction for the stock's full market value (state and local income tax deductions may also be available in some areas).

Also, when you give appreciated stocks directly to charity, your gift can be up to 20% larger because you avoid the taxes you would incur from selling and donating the cash. This means more money going to the work that you support.

For specific transfer instructions please follow the link below. For additional information about gifts of stock or other assets, please contact Christine Pinella at 707-321-8254 or christine.pinella@stjoe.org.

Honor Your Caregiver

Families often wonder, “How can I ever thank you?”

Thank a doctor, nurse, chaplain, social worker, volunteer or other caregiver who touched your life with kindness or the life of your family and loved ones in a time of need.

By making a donation in their honor, you also help make it possible for us to provide compassionate care to all. We would also love to learn more about how one of our caregivers has made a difference in your life. We will share your experience with the caregiver you honor!

Host an Event

Another way community members support our work is by organizing events that benefit Providence Community Health Foundation Napa Valley. These events are yours to design and host independently of our organization. For example:

Have your own event space? Offer a Dine & Donate at your bar or restaurant, host a benefit concert or art exhibition! There are many ways you have fun and donate a percentage of a night’s profits.

Already have an event like a golf tournament or wine club dinner in the works? Designate our organization as the beneficiary of your event.

Commemorate a milestone, or celebrate an occasion such as an anniversary, wedding or birthday, by requesting donations instead of gifts.

For more information, please contact Christine Pinella at 707-321-8254 or christine.pinella@stjoe.org.

Donate A Car

Did you know you can support our work by donating your car, truck, boat, motorcycle, or RV?

Call CARS at 1-855-500-RIDE to schedule a free pick up from anywhere in the US, and advise them that Providence Hospice Foundation Sonoma County is your designated charity.

The vehicle will be picked up by a licensed tow company at no cost to you and will be taken to their sale location. You’ll receive an initial car donation receipt upon pick-up and then the CARS team will work to turn your car into cash to support our work. Once your vehicle is sold, they will provide your tax receipt.
